Concept based Web Information Retrieval

چکیده
Information retrieval is concerned with documents relevant to a user’s information needs from a collection of documents. The user describes information needs with a query which consists of a number of words. Finding weight of a query is important to determine importance of a query. Calculating term importance is fundamental aspect of most information retrieval approaches and it is commonly determined through Term FrequencyInverse Document Frequency (TF-IDF). This paper proposed Concept-based Term Weighting (CBW) technique to determine the term importance by finding the weight of a query. WordNet ontology is used to find the conceptual information of each word in the query. General Terms Term frequency (TF), Inverse Document Frequency (IDF), Vector Space Model, Extraction Algorithm.

متن کاملBehavioral Considerations in Developing Web Information Systems: User-centered Design Agenda
The current paper explores designing a web information retrieval system regarding the searching behavior of users in real and everyday life. Designing an information system that is closely linked to human behavior is equally important for providers and the end users. From an Information Science point of view, four approaches in designing information retrieval systems were identified as system-...
متن کاملGenerating Rule-Based Trees from Decision Trees for Concept-based Information Retrieval
Web-based information retrieval systems may result in poor levels of precision and recall when users are required to articulate their own queries. Concept-based information retrieval attempts to solve this problem by allowing users to select from concept definitions specified by experts. However, it is unrealistic to expect experts to define every concept which will be of interest to users. The...
متن کاملKnowledge Organisation and Information Retrieval with Galois Lattices
In this paper we investigate the application of Galois (or concept) lattices on different data sources (e.g. web documents or bibliographical items) in order to organise knowledge that can be extracted from the data. This knowledge organisation can then be used for a number of purposes (e.g. knowledge management in an organisation, document retrieval on the Web, etc.). Galois lattices can be co...
متن کاملA multilingual text mining approach to web cross-lingual text retrieval
To enable concept-based cross-lingual text retrieval (CLTR) using multilingual text mining, our approach will first discover the multilingual concept–term relationships from linguistically diverse textual data relevant to a domain. Second, the multilingual concept–term relationships, in turn, are used to discover the conceptual content of the multilingual text, which is either a document contai...
